Last year I spent 6 wonderful nights at the Le Taos luxury suites in Tignes for my annual ski trip. Located in the heart of Tignes Le-lac village, the hotel provides unbroken views of the surrounding mountains allowing you to soak in the immensity of the alpine area. Decorated in a New Mexico vibe from the Taos region, this luxury hotel is everything you want and more for a ski holiday.
We booked a three bedroom, two bathroom apartment with 180 degree views of the white ski runs and blue skies. The hotel’s location provides ideal location to watch the sun rise over the mountains each morning. Here’s a few reasons why you might want to plan a trip here this year:
SKI IN SKI OUT
Whether you’re a beginner or an advanced skier, ski in and ski out accommodation makes it so much easier to access the resort. There’s no schlepping it up any hills carrying all your ski gear and managing to keep balanced in your ski boots. It is also great if you forget something, making it easy to ski back to the hotel without having to leave the resort. I always look for a ski in and out hotel when going on a ski trip.
THE LUXURY HOTEL ACCOMODATION
At Le Taos hotel, you have the choice of 25 hotel rooms or 29 apartment suites. As we were a group of six, we opted for an apartment as the layout included a living area, dining table and small kitchenette. There was also plenty of space to do some yoga in the morning and unwind in the evening after skiing. Delightfully decorated in a New Mexican alpine vibe, Le Taos had the perfect combination of naturally sourced materials and luxury features.
THE WELLNESS CENTRE
There is nothing better than a sauna and steam room to wind down after a long day on the slopes. The Le Taos suites have a sauna, steam room and small heated pool to help you cruise into the evening. You could also book a massage at the wellness centre however it can get noisy from the kids in the pool. I would suggest ordering the massage to your room instead.
THE LE TAOS RESTAURANT
After entering the hotel at the lobby, the Le Taos hotel had a small and cosy french restaurant. Opened for breakfast and dinner, the view from the hotel was one of the best you could find in town. You indulge on the usual breakfast spread of croissants, sliced meats, yoghurt and toast. For dinner, there was a small selection of French dishes however it wasn’t very vegetarian friendly. If you do decide to dine, make sure you book as it gets very busy during high season.
PLUSH GAMES ROOM
There is also a super cosy games room above the restaurant which is the best place for a wine and a game of chess. We didn’t discover this room until the last day so didn’t get to make much use of it. But look how glam it is!!
LOCATED IN TIGNES LE LAC
The Le Taos hotel is situated in the centre of Tignes le Lac resort area within walking distance to shops, ski hire and bars. There were enough choices of restaurants to eat somewhere new every evening and a large supermarket if you prefer to dine in.
