The Christmas period is drawing scarily close (5 weeks to be exact) and I’m heading to the sunny shores of Australia to spend my holidays on the beach. Australia was a last minute decision and I kinda went into panic mode of the thought of being in a bikini in less than two weeks. Not to fear, Studio Lagree is here!
I’ve shouted the praises of this mega reformer pilates workout before, but if you haven’t yet checked it out – you need to try it. Studio Lagree is a reformer pilates class on steroids. It’s a mean, weighted, toning machine, used to tighten up those muscles, and quick. There’s even a class designed for men, so it’s definitely not for the faint hearted. I dragged the boy along for a class and I loved watching him sweat and shake through the 50 minute class. He commented at the end “now I know why you are so god damn exhausted after these classes, they are killer.”
Hands down, I’d have to say it’s the most challenging pilates workout offered in London. I’ve been doing one class a week for about 6 months and it never gets any easier. Every class makes you burn, quiver and sweat. And you can always count on some DOMS the next day. So you know it is working every time.
The team at Studio Lagree put me up to a challenge: 3 Lagree classes, 3 times a week, for 3 weeks. It was perfect timing to get “bikini ready” for Australia and I always love a fun pursuit. I enlisted as many friends as I could to join me in a class as it’s always better working out with a friend. My fellow Flybery woman Hayley loves a good Lagree sweat, so I often rope her into some reformer torture.
I wrapped up the challenge last week and I can definitely see a change in my body. Not only do I feel leaner, I can see more definition in muscles that I usually don’t see (hello triceps). I’m stronger than when I started and adding those two extra classes to my weekly routine really made a difference.
I suggest you do some type of recovery exercise in between the Lagree classes, like yin yoga or walking. I found this helped my muscles recover before hitting the megaformer machine again.
If you have that special event or holiday coming up OR if you want to feel good in your clothes (or bikini), get involved in the Lagree 3 x 3 challenge. The 9 classes taken over 3 weeks costs £160 and the studio is based in Moorgate. They have early morning, lunch time and evening classes. My favourite trainers are Matt and Vinny as they won’t let you slack off in the corner.
I’ve loved the changes in my body so much that I’m going to try and keep up the routine for two more weeks before I leave for Australia.
Who’s up for the challenge?
